Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. In pursuance of the same, ILS Law College in association with SWISSAID is elated to announce State Level Documentary Making Competition under the project titled “Addressing gender-based discrimination and domestic violence in Marathwada region of Maharashtra, India”.
ILS Law College is a 98 years old institution established by Indian Law Society, which has been worldwide acclaimed as an institute par excellence in the field of legal education. Swissaid (India) on the other hand is a NGO aiming to shape a society based on gender equality and traditional agricultural knowledge.

Violence of every form and nature is condemned globally. One such form of violence is domestic violence and can take form of spousal abuse (mainly wife abuse / assault), marital abuse, child abuse, elderly abuse, etc. Whatever may be its name or nature, domestic violence is a problem with far-reaching consequences for individual victims, their children and their communities. Especially violence directed towards women within domestic relations has deeper roots and wider consequences. It is thus necessary to address the issue of domestic violence at every level of society. The first step towards addressing this social menace is to create awareness about domestic violence and its different forms.
